                                               86 Transport Reunion – Maroochydore

                                                         QLD Committee Update

 

 

The Qld Committee is pleased to advise 86 Transport Platoon (Vietnam)  members that planning is well under way for the 2017 Reunion at Maroochydore, on the Sunshine Coast.

 

50th Anniversary:

86 Transport Platoon began its active service in Vietnam on 22nd April, 1967 and our reunion in April, 2017 will mark the 50th Anniversary of this deployment.

 

Accommodation & Venues:

We have made firm bookings with venues to cover the main reunion events:

• Sign-on meet & greet (Friday, 21st April)

• Sausage Sizzle Lunch (Monday, 24th April)

• Dawn Service Gunfire Breakfast (Tuesday, 25th April)

• Dinner Dance (Wednesday, 26th April)

 

Cotton Tree Holiday Park is the main accommodation venue and they have committed to providing sites for 90 plus vans and motor homes.  They have also committed to providing space for us to erect a marquee where members can gather and socialise.  The Park has set up a booking group for 86 Transport Reunion 2017 and some 86 members have already booked in.

Commitment to Members:

The Qld Committee is determined to provide an enjoyable and low-cost reunion. 

• Cotton Tree Holiday Park provides a base that is in close proximity and easily accessible to the Cenotaph as well as to shopping and restaurants and will reduce the cost of organised transport. 

• There are many tourist destinations for members to attend over the free weekend (22nd & 23rd April).  In lieu of organised tours the Qld Committee will approach tourist destinations on the Sunshine Coast as to what benefits they are prepared to provide and will pass this information on to members.

In an effort to keep costs down the Qld Committee will endeavour to provide all information to members electronically.  Our main aim this year is to update the database so that we have an email contact for each 86 member (this could be the email of a family member).  Based on previous reunions, the cost of mail-outs has been a significant financial burden that the members have to ultimately pay for.  If you are not already on the database, please provide an email address to;
